Fabulous Fashionistas

Last night I was just sitting flicking through the channels (as you do), and I came across this documentary called the fabulous fashionistas it is about a group of elderly ladies who have a passion for fashion. Whilst I thought to begin with the show was only cloth deep it showed an interesting insight to the ladies exuberant personalities and lives.

With an average age of 80 these ladies dress impeccably and on a budget. One admitting she may have an addiction to catalogues and another for charity shopping. Whilst the ladies dress sense was more up to date and on trend than people less than half their age, it was there personalities and their love for life that really encaptured me into the programme.

Jean Woods known for wearing doc martins at the age of 75 (and rocking them), reinvented herself after her husband passed away. Her outlook on life could probably beat most twenty somethings, she has incredible determination and still goes running three times a week!

Gilian Lynnes is another interesting lady as I was watching the show I thought this lady is a bit young to appear on here, she must be late 50's max, but it turned out she is 87 (jaw dropping)! Gillian started off doing ballet from a young age and has carried on dancing throughout her life, she is best know for choreographing the musical Cats and her career is still going strong today.

Whilst all the ladies on the show may now be drawing a pension their thirst for life is awe inspiring. If you haven't seen the show i highly recommend checking it out on 4od; it might just make you live longer.

festival look

This is a little late for a festival look however I thought it was just right but it works for days in the country too. I wore this look to a picnic, playing family games of rounders (which I can proudly declare I surprised everyone with how far I could strike the ball). The floaty shorts are comfortable and easy to move around in whilst the sheer top keeps your shoulders out of the sun whilst maintaining your fashion credentials. This is my favorite hat, it was perfect for keeping the sun off my face whilst reading the afternoon away.

A wedding outfit idea

Hi girls, here is another outfit I put together using items from the trident reach charity shop ( The skirt is the most fabulous floaty, fun, light, and easy to wear item. I thought the outfit would look lovely if you was going to a wedding especially with the intricate detail on the laced top. You could even add extra jewellery for a more done up look. Hope you like it.
